Proportion Collage

The collage I made is a combination of multiple memories and moments that characterize my mom. The clothes on the right side is something she would wear; although she's a very simple person, she still likes to dress nice but comfortable at the same time. For the background I chose pictures of the outdoors because she loves to always be outside whether it be on vacation with our family or in the backyard watering her flowers/plants. I chose to make this about my mom because she is one of the most important people in my life that has been there with me through it all. She is someone that I look up to, and for that reason I also decided to add quotes that say "The Life Saver" and "Spend more sweet and precious time together." These are all just small things that make up who my mom is as a person and our relationship as mother and daughter.

“Irreversible Change/Selective Memory" by Terry Hayes

This picture looks like there's trees, with rain coming down. The background seems like a coral reef, in the middle ground there's two trees that pop right in the center, with different patterns sticking up in the foreground. Elements of design include curved, organic, and geometric lines and shapes. This piece creates movement especially looking at this in person when you can walk from side to side. There's actual and synthetic texture on all dimensions. His work also has different patterns that repeat, with a wide variety of them in the trees mostly.
I believe the reason for this is that the art meets the needs of the artist. Aesthetic philosophy for this piece would be Aristotle because it's the imitation of nature and Terry Hayes uses a form of nature for his work. I think this is an abstract piece because the artist presents an idea with all his pieces seen in the gallery. The different colors, forms, and shapes he uses creates more of an abstract figure throughout.

Nonobjective

Elements of Line: straight, curved, thin, thick, freehand, repeated patterns, movement, horizontal, vertical, and implied
Elements of Shape: geometric, organic, implied

I decided to rearrange some of the shapes and lines(the pattern and repetition of the dots) to make the space open. I also added a few different shapes where there weren't any before. I wanted there to be a variety of elements because although I liked the original drawing, I wanted to switch things around and separate the shapes more. I still kept a few things like the word "NOW" because that really caught my attention and thought it was an interesting word choice; as well as keeping the white rectangle in the center with the circle. I wanted to use bright colors instead of just black, gray, and white to make it pop and so there could be rhythm and movement throughout. I also wanted there to be variety because the original was so contained and closed in with the shapes and lines being together and overlapping each other.
